Nanzikambe (Chamäleon) No1
The first chamaeleon we sight is a so called “elephant-ear-chamaeleon” (Chamaeleo melleri). The kids from the neighbourhood and Frank, the cook climb into the tree to catch it for us. It doesn’t seem to be as happy, as we are. It spits and shows us his black tounge, that would give us a rash, if we touched it.

Hello. Mellers Chameleons are a stunning species. I just wanted to correct your misinformation. The saliva will not give rash. This is a myth. Many cultures in African countries fear and despise chameleons, and those beliefs and tales are passed to the countries that do not have views concerning the chameleons. Just FYI.
